Common questions

Do I need an Apple Music subscription?

Not necessarily. Soundrise plays from your Apple Music library. Music you own plays without a subscription. To play songs from Apple’s catalogue, you’ll need an active Apple Music subscription.

Does it work with the app closed?

Yes. Soundrise sets a real system alarm, so it fires with the app closed, it overrides the silent switch, and it takes over your lock screen the way the built-in Clock app does.

Can I use another alarm at the same time?

Use Soundrise as your only alarm. iOS can silence one of two alarms set for the same minute, so if you keep a second alarm as a backup, set it a few minutes earlier than Soundrise rather than at the same time.

Why doesn’t the music start on its own when the alarm goes off?

Soundrise plays a reliable alarm tone, and you tap to start your playlist. This is deliberate - it means the alarm always works, even if music can’t load for any reason.

How do I get a different playlist?

Tap Shuffle on the home screen for a new set from the same genres or playlist. Tap “Change music” to pick different genres or a different playlist, or go to Settings and run setup again.

How long is my playlist?

As long as you set it - 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. If the playlist or genres you chose don’t have enough songs to fill that time, Soundrise uses what’s there.

How do I delete my data?

Settings, then Delete My Data, removes your saved preferences and cancels any scheduled alarms. Deleting the app does the same.

How do I stop Soundrise accessing my music?

iOS Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Media & Apple Music. There’s a shortcut to this in Soundrise’s own Settings screen.
